If ever the saying ‘Well worth waiting for’ was apt, then this would defiantly be this time as Trina Broussard gets a chance to show off her wears in the shape of the album ‘The Love Inside’.

Frankly it is a mystery and virgin on a damn near travesty that this exquisite album has not been allowed to see the light of day till now. This strange feat is largely down to the persuasive and tenacious boys at Expansion Records who held their nerve and freed this album from it̢۪s ten year sentence, seeing justice done at last after helping to release other Broussard albums.

Trina has sang as backing singer to many great artists including Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey to name a few. The reason why is simple - she has a great voice which is (more than) capable of backing the best and should be heard in her own right. Spotted and signed by the mighty Jermaine Dupree she then had the song ’Inside My Love’ featured on the platinum selling movie sound track ‘Love Jones’. After that comes greatness you would thinkâ€Â¦ After that she waits TEN years to release this would be classic! (I’m shaking my head now).

The album has many soul influences and stella collaborations including songs co-written by Alicia Keys, Rahsaan Patterson and Trey Lorenz. These co-contributors help leave the seal of quality from start to finish on this album, with some stunning vocals mixed in for good measure by Ms Broussard. You even get the feeling that a few of the artists that Broussard has previously backed have surely influenced certain tracks. For instance ‘All Night Long’ not unlike Anita Baker and ‘Why Do You Feel So Sad’ Toni Braxton essec help this album feel almost familiar at first listen.

Stand out tracks for me were the silk like ‘Losing my Mind’, ‘All I Need Is You’ and my personal favourite (turn the lights down low), album namesake ‘Inside my Love’ which in my view personifies both artist and album. This is a thoroughly great album and you have no excuse for not going to buy itâ€Â¦ After all, you’ve had enough time to save up for a copy:)
