New to my ears Donna Lee drops her enticing lo-fi, funk and it’s an engaging slice of groove-ridden agitprop that harks back to the sounds of Osibisa and Cymande.

It offers a forward, facing lyric and imperious alto sax, doubling up as either a cutting horn section or just individually, with her well-crafted and gutsy soloing.

Donna Lee wears her heart on her sleeve and tackles all the vocal parts herself that vary from soft cooing to full-on funk chants that are full of heart and soul and sheer grittiness.

If this single is anything to go by then her debut album "Love Liberates", is well worth a listen as this sister is keeping the flames of funk well and truly alive.
