The Lunar Vision EP is a rather splendid offering courtesy of drummer /producer and composer Mike Bandoni. Opener and the title of the EP sets the benchmark for warm. rich and colourful soundscapes in a downtempo head nodding manner. With its spiralling riffs and appropriately burbly sonics, its gorgeously languid sheen comes to the fore.

Giving way to ‘Mind Body & Soul’ which starts with a furious style of motoric drumming overladen with extremely funky bass before some gloriously chilled out rhodes piano and subtle synth sequencing take hold. It’s a clever rhythmic juxtaposition merging laid back with surging intent.

‘Free spirit’ is a glorious slice of 60’s organ led retro blessedness. Here the drumming reminds of Bernard Purdie especially when Bandoni snatches at those hi hats! It’s no wonder he was first call during his stint with the sadly short lived Craig Charles Fantasy Funk Band.

Cuts like ‘Free Spirit’ are the musical rivers that lead into the Great Lakes of funk so dive in on this one. Available on Bandcamp Bandoni does not disappoint-lush!
