Blue Moka : Fill The Void

"Fill The Void" is the new single by Blue Moka, one of Italy’s most prominent Jazz quartets.

They are : Alberto Gurrisi (Hammond), Emiliano Vernizzi (sax), Michele Bianchi (guitar) and Michele Morari (drums),

“Fill The Void" is from the band’s second album Enjoy, which will be released on February 24th 2023 and it’s fresh sounding with vital intensity. The eerie sax reminds me of Portico quartet and a healthy touch of Soft Machine. It’s a modal piece which begins with imperious chords emanating from the sturdy Hammond B3 before the crunch of fusion guitar weaves its subtle magic. It’s a slice of slow burning jazz that builds to a crescendo with a soaring tenor topping off what is an unbridled and thrilling performance driven by the B3 and superb drum accompaniment. This will put the band in good stead for their forthcoming album and is a promising start showing artistic integrity and consummate musicianship full of spirit and adventure.
