There's something spellbinding about Sessa's seductive intensity. Simply, this sterling album is an expression of his love for the art form from a golden era, known as Bossa and Tropicália. It's cinematic in its approach and yet, has an internal spiritual angle. He grew up in New York but you'd never guess, as this is a modern take on Tropicália and beyond.
The vocalist/guitarist has a signature soft, hushed delivery which reigns throughout. A praise-worthy dynamism that can convey the full spectrum of human emotions, from romantic to melancholy and anywhere in between. Each song delivered shows a display of unshakeable conviction unfolding.
The single “Pele da Esfera” is a standout track, with classic Bossa-style guitar and a great rhythmic displacement over a serpentine bassline that cuts the mustard. “Canção da Cura”, which translates as Songs Of Healing, brings out the poetic side of this enticing artist. Also included are great compositions “Estrela Acesa” and “Dor Fodida”, which collectively might just be one of the most relaxing things you could listen to. Seductive sounds at their finest.
