Kutiman teams up the with the Wachaga nation tribe, a group of indigenous villages who live around the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and comes up with a thoroughly unique concept mixing traditional chants with spiritual jazz and fresh sounding electronica.
It's an ambitious project that took six years to complete an audio visual feast (each track has it's own dedicated video) that push the boundaries of your mind.I't's a genre busting journey each and everyone of us should take.
The pyschedelic 'Awake In The Rain' sounds like Ray Manzarek has gate crashed the session and laid down some scintillating farfisa but jazz rules supreme too, with looming double bass that adds the icing on the cake to the excellent 'Fireflies Before Tomorrow' and imperious tenor sax, especially on the killer track 'Rainbow Kilimanjaro'. It's a tour de force that hits the mark and will has paid off handsomely melding sampling, electronica and jazz into a melting pot of exotica.Kutiman is at the top of his game let's hope he reaps the rewards with this exceptional offering.
