Grinding, churning, loving and yearning this brother never stops learning when it comes to harnessing the funk.

Soulive's,Alan Evans alter ego, ‘Crushed Velvet’ gets into fifth gear on this stomping and sexy two to the floor, slow burning slice of funked out brilliance. Vocals are taken care of by the ballsy Kim Dawson, who popped up on King Rooster's excellent 45 recently. She adds the grit to this glossy finish and it comes all wrapped up with a JB's inspired horn section that is syncopation heaven. The pumping bass is the key, as Evans sit sweetly behind the beat making the groove as slinky as hell ,suffice to say, this is sheer class and one the godfather would heartily approve of.Can I count it off? Yes you certainly can! Crushed Velvet? Now doesn't sir look good in it? Suits you sir! Vintage League Music have done it again.....
