This is engrossingly mellow music, perfect for those long winter nights if you happen to be sprawled in your cramped bedsit. Once you've gotten your pulse to slow far enough, to match the lolloping drums you'll dig their understated grooves that permeate this slow burning platter.

Physch soul and modal jazz are the trappings on 'Rising' it has that spiritual Coltrane sax and Valbrun's brooding vocals are perfect for this atmospherically soaked session - his laconic delivery is captivating to say the least. Each album is a testament to the band's new discoveries, as they are always on the pulse of change and their sweet grooves are as heavy as ever. On first listening it's torch songs for the tormented but later on you realise their uplifting appeal and hip aesthetic.Ephemerals will shatter norms with this album. The stylish art work is visually stunning too.....
