Tom O' Grady and band seem to be on the rise and this new album on Legere reinforces their position as leaders in the funk jazz scene especially here in the UK.It's a consummate effort with fierce ensemble playing and a polished production. It's a concept album too, in praise of all things vinyl (yes I thought that would get your attention)

'Pitching Up' the groovy Herbie inspired piece of blessedness, is ingenious in concept (unless they all have OCD) here the band emulate the effect of going from 33 to 45rpm and on 'Out Of Sync' they mimic bad beat mixing producing a fantastic slice of broken beat replete with Alex Hitchcock's knockout tenor sax. These guys are musician's musicians doing more interesting things in the funk realm than most. I was sold after the first few numbers, you will be too.2020 is looking extremely good for these melodic and inventive funkateers.
