When the reggae world lost one if brightest stars Dennis Brown at just 42 they went into deep mourning and justifiably so.Brown was one of the smoothest performers out there and dubbed the crown prince of reggae from none other than the king himself Bob Marley. He ranks alongside him too, as one of the most covered artists as does other reggae luminaries Peter Tosh and Gregory Isaacs.

This exceptional compilation concentrates on his work with legendary producer Winston ‘Niney’ Holness who catapulted the aspiring singer- songwriter high into the reggae strata and in 1975 the fruits of their labour 'Just Dennis' was released by Trojan all represented here on the first cd and on the second cd,the glorious 'Deep Down'.Classics such as 'Show Us The Way', 'Westbound Train,'Cassandra' & 'Love Jah' just sound superb. This sterling platter demonstrates Brown's gently soulful way that glides in nicely alongside the rootsy backing of his music.
As often happens with reggae artists, Brown’s discography is so extensive – dozens of albums and hundreds of singles – that it can be difficult to know where to start, this compilation solves the problem. An exceptional tribute to one of the all time reggae greats!
