Revered pianist Chick Corea drops his current 3-CD/Blu-ray set featuring a live album and documentary film entitled The Musician. A celebration of Corea’s 70th birthday and run of gigs held at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club,N.Y.C.Back in 2011.

It's all about revisiting his past and Corea choses 10 different bands and a total of 28 contemporary and hefty jazzers to pull this off successfully. Herbie Hancock, Bobby McFerrin, Wynton Marsalis, John McLaughlin, Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea Elektric Band and Return to Forever, among others.Weighing in at over four hours this is a veritable tome of modern Jazz.Prepared to be bewitched, bedazzled and beguiled.Corea is a true force of nature and his incendiary soloing reigns throughout.

The highlights are many fold whether it be joining forces with the terrifically on form and electrifying, John McLaughlin on 'Spirit Rides' or the hysterically comical Bobby McFerrin on 'I’ve Got The World On A String.' You'll have to marvel too at the flying vibraphone hammers of Gary Burton 'Overture' weaving in out of string arrangements and if you want gutbucket blues who better than Wynton Marsalis on 'C C's Birthday Blues' and check out the breathtaking and jagged duel with Herbie Hancock on 'Cantaloupe Island'-a toweringly awesome duet. This is the absolute pinnacle of standout collaborations,Chick is the personification of a team player too which ultimately gives him the most satisfaction.Holy cow! His refined taste and heartfelt care reigns supreme and don't forget many of his compositions are regarded as jazz standards which must be regarded as the top accolade (along with his 22 Grammys!) This is without doubt an absolute treasure and should justly take pride of place in any serious jazz lover's collection.
