Gemma & the Travellers revel in their love for the early deep Soul, R&B, Northern Soul and the raw and gritty Funk of the Sixties, included is their excellent single and title track 'Too Many Rules And Games'. But there's plenty of strong material on offer too and apparently nothing and no army is going to hold these guys back especially with the slinky sounding 'Ive Got No Feeling' a gorgeous slice of soul and the biting 'I Can Fly' cuts the mustard too with its punchy baritone and urgent chords-sublime stuff!

The spirit of Screaming Jay Hawkins is channelled with the excellent and minor bluesy sounding 'Where I Lived Before'.Gemma's vocals are expressive and strong throughout with its distinctive vibrato reigning supreme especially on tracks like this!

The Travellers are a well honed unit no doubt due to guitarist and producer Robert P's craftful touch and like all good soul bands they have a killer ballad in the shape of 'Take My Heart And Breathe'. The hidden instrumental is a nice touch too-this is refreshing stuff and they are a highly welcome addition to The Legere stable and right in time for a new summer soundtrack!
