Porto's princess of pop soul, Marta Ren, slams down her letter of intent with this brash, bristling and very exciting debut - basically, it's just what the doctor ordered!

Proceedings get off to a cracking start with the opener, "Don't Look", a slamdunkin slice of soul jazz blessedness which highlights Ren's electrifying vocals and the talents of a cracking band!

Marta is not your regular singer. She's full of passion, energy and fight - title track "Stop Look Listen" epitomises this - a slow grinding serving of rocked-up soul with Stax-filled horns and Marta, in full Aretha mode, screaming for some sweet release. This girl definately does it with soul, that's her soul intention and she's full of it, she literally fizzes at you!

"Smiling Faces", the ballad in the mix, sees the diminutive diva spill out her aching emotions in the most seductive manner, there's no other word for it, she's just 'plain sexy!' (err, ok two words) "Be My Fela" (if only!) mixes soul with afrobeat - I've not heard anyone do this, it's an original slant and I love it!

This platter is choc-a-bloc with goodies and is definitely going to gain heaps more fans for this effervescent young lady. If you like your horns horny, your drums crunchy and your guitar slinky - this is tailor made for you. Essential listening with a real touch of class...
