Roy X: Odoyewu (Philophon)

This tune kicks off with a kind of nu-soul vibe and you think where's it going...then a familiar reggae chord workout (C- to G-) kicks-in and the underpinned intentions soon become clear...

Beautiful girl BV's interspersed with that kind of Smiley Culture rapping kicks in. A jaunty workout that starts off well but fizzles out, however the stoned out dopeness of the B side "Sakawa" keeps this artist in the frame and definately one to watch...Philophon are pushing the envelope and not one exercise in retread here either - worth checking out this exciting new label.
