Having met in person Chozen at Art19 Management in Camberwell Green, this cool rapper from London will take the hip-hop and drum and bass scene by storm with his brand new single "Life Beings" featuring Filly.
He handed me his single and the first thing that caught my eye was the artwork. He’s posing inside a triangle, and what baffled me was it looked so real yet it was graphics. Artwork is vital and Chozen’s Life Begins surely captures something special even if its just the front cover.
"Life Begins" or as it says on youtube "Life Begins Now," we exchanged emails and I promised I’d review his single for B&S. So, what do I think of this UK rapper? For a start, he’s a cool, laidback guy who is not intimidating yet friendly to say the least unlike many other egotistical rappers I’ve come across in my time in the music industry. Filly, the lead singer of this song, starts with no beat and a hyped up intro that leads into a drum and bass beat. It’s a mixture between Public Enemy and Chase & Status. Dance and hip-hop, the perfect recipe for success, Chozen’s music video is masterfully directed, and if Labrinth, Devlin, Tinie Tempah and Kelly Rowland come up alongside your youtube video you know your doing the right things.
Not exactly my cup of tea, being a soul head from day one, it is still listenable and I can imagine it being played on radio nationally and doing well in the US. Go get your copy of Cozen “Life Begins" feat. Filly. The single offers the original single version, Main mix, instrumental, Justice J mix, and a USD mix. This will be available in January!
