Weekend Sun: Figo

Darlington has been of the musical map for sometime but not now with Weekend Sun bursting through with this their radiant new EP (Hero Records) and what a corker it is.

"Figo" which is a stonking latin workout with shades of Ramsey Lewis and Pigbag exudes a jaunty and nifty Mr Scruff type feel. Things get a sight more moodier with the jazztastic groove of "Keep Running" with the sultry and extremely expressive vocals of Esther Taylor, a naggingly insistent bassline courtesy of Phil Smith keeps it afloat and this futuristic slice of northern soul should stir even the toughest of hearts, a cracking tune...looking forward to the album lads!
