We’ve been championing this lad for quite some time now so it’s great to see he’s got his debut album together and by and large it’s a corker! Ok so it’s not groundbreaking but it’s definitely worth a tumble as his engaging cheeky personality wins through!
A fantastic rendition of Blondie’s “Call Me” gets a right royal jazz seeing to as does Sam Sam Sparrow’s “Black And Gold” which swings as hard as a hangman’s noose, what a cracking band he has too. The choice soulful playing of Alex Webb on piano stands out especially underpinning it along with Gary Crosby’s nimble double bass playing and Nathanial Facey’s improvisational brilliance on sax.
So with Jamie Callum sideshifting to radio and talent shows there’s a distinct this young turk could sneak in and take the crown. His velvet tones should lift you emphatically beyond the ordinary as he’s fast becoming a memorable melodic figure emerging on the jazz /pop scene.
