I’m not that keen on X Factor but, generally speaking, tune in towards the end of the series to check out who is on their way to the finals, or not. This young lady shone above all the others from the first time I saw her in the programme’s 5th series –
And it wasn’t because she was dressed to the nines, her attitude, or the song she was singing, but it was her ability to hold a note, to instil emotions into the most banal of songs, and her modesty when she actually pulled it off.
It was her killer instinct, and her hunger to win, that actually made it for me. I think I may have even voted for her – now that’s a first believe me! Alexandra’s early career kicked off with the obligatory uptempo movers 'Bad Boys' and 'Broken Heels' which well and truly established her with her young fans.
The trimmings were also apparent - slick, sharp dance routines, the skimpy outfits and the look. But go beyond this. Look into her soul. 'Hallelujah' was a good indication of what could come. Then, when I heard 'The Silence', shivers ran down my spine. P ure magic! Everything one wants in a song is there! Her vocal power, combined with the drama, and feisty attitude, confirmed the lady has a guaranteed career before her. If 'Overcome' is the start of her journey, then I can’t wait to hear her next cd. Congratulations Ms B.
