When compared to the other dance albums out at the moment Raw is way above them all. Probably because it isn’t merely just a dance album, its far more than that, there are so many little elements to maintain the listeners interest throughout.
Containing a slurry of dancehall, dubstep, breakbeat and a dozen other genres, the fourteen songs all have a hectic party atmosphere to them. This feeling runs across the whole album as if all the guests are lined up ready to do their bit; Shunda K pops up on a few tracks and is joined by Rodney P, Les Gourmets and MC Chickaboo amongst others.
The only teeny criticism is that the cover of ‘Cars’ is a little pointless, when the riff is over it bares no resemblance to the original at all and could just have been renamed as an original song and nobody would be any the wiser. Then again the majority of Flore fans probably have no idea who Gary Numan is in the first place.
