Afrobeast the new platter from Brixton's finest Yaaba Funk, certainly shows off their massive potential. It's choc a bloc with suped up hi life grooves, crispy guitar, fat horns and a heavy bass that defines their majestic sound.
A joyful noise that raised the roof recently at their album launch at the hot and sweaty rest is noise bar Brixton. It swaggers along and bears witness to their surging development of Afrobeat watch them skip gingerly beyond the daunting shadow of Fela Kuti and come out the otherside smiling.
Infectious rhythms that allows no escape. I for one, am happy to be their prisoner! South London's kings of dancefloor jams.
