Healer Selecter: Lets Get It Started

Healer Selecter (aka Yvan Serrano-Fontova) is bang in the zone with this fresh new offering. Chunky beats, Surf guitar, Boogaloo breaks, soul, rocksteady (you getting the idea? Eclectic!) It's all here and in fruitful abundance. This kid does not let up his schizoid tastes make him more varied than a kelloggs variety 12 pack

Yvan's tracks work well when he dons his les paul and twangs away. The opening track 'You Are Listening To' is dominated by his devastatingly simple yet catchy guitar riff that whets the appetite and tees up the album nicely!

Healer's material will keep Dj's and dancers on their toes and in their element with this incendiary release. It's also great to hear some real musicians wigging out too. He's kept the cut and paste to a minimum and my personal favourites are 'Sweet Lil Thang Of Mine' Yvan leads this with his spring reverbed retro guitar with i'ts wonderful live feel, complete with gritty horns, criss cross magical rhythms from the powerhouse drummer extraordinaire Gabor Dornyei his drum solo will get your sap rising that's for sure and whose that on the mighty conga? Why it's the ever present Snowboy giving his hands a good work out, on this slice of classic Afro Jazz Funk, sublime stuff!

The same band rock the next tune the vampish burlesque beat of "Rock -A- Rolla Boogaloo" sounding like classic John Barry's "Beat Girl' circa 1960...ace! Asher Storm, the no1 funky dread leads the next one, the swinging 'Foundation Of Love' with live band again a one chord groove that will bore into your brain and check the hammond solo, I'm in heaven!

I'ts all good clean fun kids and the buzz you get off this will liven up any party, hope he takes this out live because this is sky-high level quality and lastly Hendrix was wrong. You will hear surf music again but not as we know it Jim!
