Anita Baker To Headline Love Supreme Festival
There's welcome news of an exclusive appearance from Queen of sophisticated soul Anita Baker, who will headline Saturday’s standout events at this year's Love Supreme Festival. Baker joins previously announced music giants, which include R&B’s biggest selling female group TLC, soul royals The Isley Brothers, Latin legend Sergio Mendes and jazz master Charles Lloyd, who will be thrilling the crowds at Europe’s biggest outdoor jazz festival, which takes place in the idyllic setting of Glynde Place in East Sussex.
Contemporary R&B/soul legend’s don’t come much bigger than the double Grammy-winning 62-year-old, 8 million (1986) “Rapture” album selling, US singer/songwriter Anita Baker. Best known for her distinctive alto-mezzo soprano vocal on worldwide 1986 R&B/soul anthem, “Sweet Love”. This will be Baker’s first show in the UK for 13 years and it has also been announced that it will also be her last show on these shores.
Largely inactive release wise in recent years, bar her 2012 Grammy-nominated cover of the Tyrese track “Lately” and also Grammy-nominated was her Christmas song “Christmas Time Is Here” in 2005. Pre that, a self-imposed hiatus of over a decade, with the artist featuring on “Rhythm Of Love” on the Frank Sinatra 1994 “Duets” album so we expect her set to be full of the songs which first established the artist and made her a worldwide chart-topping household name.
Again, well done Love Supreme! A stunning set from Anita Baker alone is worth the price of the ticket!
