With more than 30 acts in not to be missed action over 2 glorious days in July in the picturesque setting of Glynde Place in East Sussex, Love Supreme is a festival which is always jam-packed with quality performers and performances. Now in its 7th year, Europe’s biggest and the UK’s favourite outdoor jazz/soul/funk festival’s momentum is showing no sign of slowing down, as it announces this year’s spectacular lineup.

Here are just a few of the stunners set to perform on the Love Supreme stages this summer… Firstly, how about Motown royal Gladys Knight or captivating Fugees soul/hip-hop frontwomen Lauryn Hill. If Latin gets you going, there’s multi-award winning Chick Corea. Festival fave Jamie Cullum is also in action, as are universally acclaimed stylish jazz/soul outfit Snarky Puppy, who are exclusive to Love Supreme this year. Also, all set to appear, keys wizard Joe Armon-Jones, who has been wowing all in his path of late and GoGo Penguin have also been in impressive form with a recent Mercury Prize nomination as a testament to their talent.

As with previous years, there will be no shortage of diamonds waiting to be unearthed. Fitting that remit perfectly, we can’t recommend festival debutants, New Orleans finest, Tank & The Bangas highly enough. Or for that matter, Australian blues/soul quartet The Tesky Brothers, who’s lead singer Josh Tesky invokes the sounds of Otis Redding delivering timeless classics for Stax. Other potential standout first-timers, as artists playing in their own right, include tuba boss Theon Cross, the hypnotic brass sounds of Steam Down, SEED Ensemble bring a must dance jazz/afro-beat party and if you just want out and out spiritual/cool jazz, don’t look any further than the multi-talents of Kamaal Williams or highly acclaimed vibraphonist Orphy Robinson.

There’s just enough time to mention how thrilled we are that Mahalia will perform at her first Love Supreme this year - first of many, I’m sure. B&S backed/interviewed this artist many, many moons ago when she was still at school! And last, but by no means least, you have to mention the inclusion this year of Grammy Award-winning DJ/producer/remixer Louie Vega, who will not only be performing with his full Elements of Life band but will also host an after party, which includes a DJ set from the master (at work) himself. There’s a lot more, but why spoil the surprise?
