Many on the soul & jazz scene and beyond are already aware of the concerted efforts to raise money for 90's Soul hero and chart topper, Kenny Thomas, who's daughter Christina has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Over £10,000 has already been raised at a very special event organised by the Smoove Grooves gang in Essex. Flip, Bigger, Scott Saville, T.C. et al worked their socks off, putting one of THE best soul events so far this year. Stars, which included Jocelyn Brown, Junior Giscombe, Omar, Bluey (Incognito), Drizabone Soul Family, Pauline Henry (Chimes), Cool Million Feat. Eli Thompson and Bashiyra 'The Voice' to name but a few...performed their hits and donated their time to show support their fellow artist. Talking of which...

Incognito have now stepped up to the plate, with bandleader and British jazz/funk legend Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick announcing a fantastic fundraising concert at the Jazz Cafe on Tuesday, June 6. The hope is to raise as much money as possible and add it to towards the overall target of £80,000, which is the figure needed to provide vital treatment for Christina.

Thomas has been a long time friend of the band, and features on their sister project Thames River Soul’s recent release; a glorious rendition of George Benson’s "Love X Love".

Bluey, told Blues & Soul: "In this life family is everything! We can only imagine what the Thomas family are going through. We in Incognito and the UK Soul Jazz Community are glad that we can do our little bit with great love for Christina. That brave little girl has become a symbol of unity to us all at a time when so much of the world is divided. We thank her for the opportunity to shine!" Bluey adds, "Come share the music, the love and the light…6th of June at the Jazz Cafe".

Incognito will perform alongside Bluey's ultra-cool contemporary jazz outfit, Citrus Sun, plus there will be special guests announced nearer the time. If the Smoove Grooves event is anything to go by, there could be a quite a few well-known artists dropping in.

All in all, it's set to be a huge night at London's Jazz Cafe with ALL proceeds, we are told, going to this very important cause...

What better way to spend a Tuesday night in the capital.
