Amy Winehouse dies aged 27

27 year old superstar singer and 5 times Grammy winner Amy Winehouse has today been found dead at her house in Camden, North London. Paramedics were called to the singers house at 3.54pm but were unable to save the singer…

Police are treating the incident as "Unexplained," but the cause was thought to be drug related. A police statement said: "Police were called by LAS to an address in Camden Square shortly before 4:05 pm (1505 GMT) today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene."

The singer had recently cancelled a comeback tour after a disastrous opening performance in Serbia on June 18, Winehouse was said to be too drunk to sing and was booed continuously. The singer could only mumble some of the lyrics and failed to follow her band.

Her last public appearance was to support Dionne Broomfield who was performing at the Roundhouse as part of the iTunes festival. She joined her Goddaughter on stage and danced around while encouraging the audience to buy the singer's new album.

Winehouse's career, though checkered to say the least, brought the singer high acclaim through her first UK album 'Frank' in 2003 (3 x's platinum in the UK). And her masterpiece 'Back To Black' reached number one in Britain and number two in the US charts, going six times platinum in the UK and double platinum in the United States.
