Stax show comes to London this July

Stax @The Venue, 229 Great Portland Street - July 27 2011
Stax @The Venue, 229 Great Portland Street - July 27 2011

Historically the Stax label has a prolific record (excuse the pun) when it comes to producing hit's and hit making artists'. Now you can see three of those truely great artist's as they play a one-off show in London on July 27...

The place to be on that evening is The Venue, 229 Great Portland Street. The artists concerned are none other than Eddie 'Knock On Wood' Floyd AND not one, but two members of Stax house band/Booker T & the MGs + they were also original member's of the Blues Brothers band - messieurs Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn.

These guy's have played with everyone from Otis Redding to Sam & Dave, from Wilson Pickett to of course Mr Eddie Floyd, to name but few... So as you continue to check their sparkling credentials, may I also mention that Cropper also wrote/co-wrote such legendary tunes as (huge breath): ‘In The Midnight Hour’, ‘Green Onions’, ‘Soul Man’, ‘Time is Tight’, ‘Soul Limbo’ (BBC television’s "cricket theme"), ‘Knock on Wood’, ‘(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay’ - OK, I'll stop there! But I think you get where I'm coming from.

You can expect to hear all of these monster STAX hits and much, much more from this dynamic Southern Soul label. Completing the line-up and keeping things in the STAX family is Lester Snell from Issac Hayes original band on Hammond B3 and Steve Potts on drums, who replaced the late great Al Jackson in the MGs over 30 years ago.
