The Vintage Festival moves to London - Full details...
Last year Wayne & Gerardine Hemingway brought their festival vision to the masses via their successful and much talked about Vintage extravaganza. Soooo lucky us, they've decided to do it again! But this time it will not be at the glorious Goodwood location - instead it will be situated at London's sunny Southbank, and will be the cherry on the top of July's month long Festival Of Britain.
When interviewed by yours truly back in February 2010 Hemingway said he would be happy with 20,000 visitors to attend his unique festival - As word spread, he ended up with 50,000! And as Vintage 2010 was described as the “new Festival of Britain†where better to host Vintage 2011 than the South Bank, which will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of that very festival - the 1951 'Festival of Britain'. (Ahhh, now you've fallen in! lol)
So save the dates 29th, 30th and 31st of July to your diary for what is sure to be a spectacle to end all spectacles - where the 21 acre section of the Embankment, including The Royal Festival Hall, The Hayward Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, The British Film Institute, the shops, restaurants and bars will together transform into a Vintage Wonderland!
MORE OF WHAT TO EXPECT AT VINTAGE ON THE SOUTHBANK ...

Featuring world renowned bands, DJs, collectors from each decade as well as current bands and brands inspired by Britain's rich creative heritage. All the wonderful clubs, bands, fashions, art & design, film, shops, vintage retailers, dance lessons, make overs, workshops that made Vintage 2010 so memorable will be there along with some cool new surprises...
Learn Northern Soul dancing (one of our favourites) or to Jive - try out clubs that evoke the ambience of classic venues like Wigan Casino, The Blitz Club and those much missed 80s' warehouse parties OR dance in a South Bank Ballroom to a 20 piece swing orchestra.
And if that wasn't enough... By night, the whole of the South Bank complex will be transformed into a series of evocative set-dressed venues, complimented by a flotilla of party boats, cruising The Thames on a summer evening specialising in genres from funk, to electro swing.
Dare you miss it? I should coco!!!
