Preview: The Stuttgart jazzopen festival
The Stuttgart jazzopen Jazz Festival kicks off on the 16th of July and runs through to the 26th. This year it incorporates a new venue the Trade Fair Centre as well as old favourates the BIX Jazzclub and the open air Mercedes-Benz Museum.
Venue highlights include bill topping saxophone legend Sonny Rollins at the Messe Stuttgart. Also at the Messe; The McCoy Tyner Trio with special guest Bill Frisell. On the open-air stage guitar greats John Scofield and the best of smooth jazz- Lee Ritenour. While a couple of BIX Jazz Club highlights must be the Joshua Redman Trio and Soil & Cuban salsa big band Cubanismo!
If you thought that little lot was impressive, the star studied line-up doesn't stop there. You can also add the names of Grace Jones, Lenny Kravitz, James Morrison, Kate Melua, Joss Stone, Solomon Burke, China Moses, Manhattan Transfer and Florence Rawlings to that tantalizing list. Ok, not exactly keeping within the jazz genre, but I think you'll agree they are just as coooool making the Stuttgart jazzopen the place to be!...
