WIN TICKETS TO SOLOMAN BURKE @BARBICAN ON THE 3RD OF JULY
Solomon Burke is truly one of popular music’s larger-than-life figures whilst bringing a truly devine mix of Soul and Funk. And you can see him live at the Barbican on July 3rd...
An ordained minister, his 1960s recordings helped define what came to be known as Soul; his songs have been covered by artists from the Rolling Stones to Tom Petty, from the Blues Brothers to Bruce Springsteen. Almost six decades into a career that stretches back to his days as the ‘Wonder Boy Preacher’ his great voice is still one of the most compelling sounds in American music, and he has not stopped exploring fresh musical territory.
As one of the architects of Soul he helped lay the foundations for the development of Funk; "He is Solomon the resonator, the golden voice of heart, wisdom, soul, and experience. He’s one of the architects of American music" – Tom Waits.
Support comes from the LA-based live funk combo Breakestra.
