DEF MIX CELEBRATE 20th ANNIVERSARY
Doncha just love NYC? And one of its finest contributions to the dance scene is the legendary DJ management and label, Def Mix.
Run by the fierce Judy Weinstein, DM has kept its DJs at the top, working the crowds for the past 20 years, and putting out some real classic tunes. Think ‘Tears’, ‘Needin U’, ‘Whistle Song’ and tons of remixes for top stars like Morales, who turned Mariah Carey’s ‘Dream Lover’ into a piece of dance music history. If you were at Turnmills last Bank Holiday weekend, then you’ll have some idea.
Friday night featured Satoshi Tomiie, Hector Romero, Tom Stephan and Pete Heller at The Gallery. Pushing the boat out even further, Saturday boasted David Morales, Danny Rampling, Norman Jay and Garage City‘s Bobby & Steve, who were joined by Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson and Ricky Morrison, plus Chrissy T.
The Sabbath delivered a spectacular 4 hour set from Frankie Knuckles alongside Ricky Morrison and Tim Webster, with Faith, Terry Farley, Stu Patterson and Dave Jarvis also keeping up appearances.
And if you missed the party, Defected have got it covered, as they’re releasing the 20th Anniversary Def Mix CD soon.
