NATHAN: SINGING FOR MISS BLACK BRITAIN

Singer Nathan is special guest at this year's Miss Black Britain contest to be held at Manchester United Football Club on Saturday July 14.

The event, hosted by TV soap star Leon Lopez (Hollyoaks) and Kat (MTV Base), will also feature performances by Jason Jermain and Jamour (winner of last year's MOBO Unsigned Award).

The Miss Black Britain contest, originated in 2006 by professional dancer and choreographer, Aneka Johnson, attempts to fuse urban culture, couture and sophistication and shuns the more traditional beauty contest format.

The contest focuses on young Black British women and sets out to portray them in a positive and progressive light and is the only black beauty contest with direct Miss England affiliation. The contest also works to raise awareness of British black models and to create opportunities to explore and develop their careers.
