With rumours having circulated for the past 12 months, Gorillaz co-creator Damon Albarn has finally confirmed that the animated beat masters will be no more after a forthcoming film and accompanying sound-track will mark the projects end.

During an interview with BBC Radio at the weekend, Albarn was asked about another Gorillaz album, to which he replied, "It will be a film score. There won't be another pop record."

Albarn also pointed out that they are trying to start the film in the autumn and that Terry Gilliam (Monty Python/Brazil/Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas) had been approached to direct.
