Neo-soul superstar Anthony Hamilton rocks a brimming Indig02 during his European tour giving a personal, touching performance and affirming why he’s still the best in the business.

A packed Indigo2 played host to a real special type of gig. The warm up acts Obenewa, Kadisha, Kadigi Kamara, Nadina Charles where all superb creating a live eclectic atmosphere and illustrating the talent gracing our shores. But undoubtedly it was Mr. Hamilton with his cheeky charisma, warming yet powerful voice and uncontrollable energy that stole the show. Alternating with ease between soul classic’s like ‘Charlene’, ‘Since I See You’ and the funk fuelled ‘Sista Big Bones’ along with exciting new material ‘Diamond In The Rough’ and ‘Fallin’ In Love’ from his latest album ‘The Point Of It All’.

With laughs and giggles between songs his varied track list had the crowd in moments of silence to roaring delight and his band and back up singers deserve praise for creating and maintaining a unique live experience throughout. The energy on stage as he breaks into freestyle dances was an example of an artist in his element similar to that of the late James Brown, an energy that was absorbed and reciprocated from beaming smiles in the audience.

The biggest highlight of the evening, to the envy of the seated guests, was when Anthony showed his appreciation and jumped down to the very depths of the crowd swapping dancing partners as he made his way from end to end. The only negative was the self-assured and unprepared host, which left much to be desired, but a minor detail when faced with the night’s talent. Hamilton rapped one of the best live performances that London had seen with a justified two-song encore. Again indication why out of performers and entertainers he encompasses the later and why next time he’s in town he’s not to be missed.
