Jodeci + Joe Wembley Arena 14/02/09
To set the scene a little... It's Valentines day, romance, flowers and a night with soul superstar Joe. What more could a woman ask for... Well, how about a little Jodeci?
The night started with the support act. What can be say? Well, Not a lot - nothing that could be printed anyway!? Lets just say they made The Cheeky Girls sound like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston! The whole performance was pretty embarrassing to say the least, which was made worse by the booing crowd...
Next came Joe.... well the man was amazing! He needs no gimmicks, this mans talent alone is more than enough to fill the stage. He was a real crowd pleaser with the woman, singing a classic mix from 'What your man wont do', 'Good girls' and 'I wana know'. Then mixing in some upbeat stuff like 'Stutter', which REALLY got the Arena up dancing. After a change of outfit, he came and finished his performance with a little acoustic number. Just Joe, his Guitar and a voice that could make you fall in love in an instant. (pretty good considering the date). He promised to be back, and from the sound of the crowd they will be ready and waiting.
Next came Jodeci... And YES these guys can still pull it off! They strutted on stage like they owned the place, and for a few hours they sure as hell did!! Flashing more that just a glimpse of white boxer shorts took you back to Jodeci's heyday. And gave the woman just what they wanted to see... Mr Delvin and DeVante had the woman drooling whilst K-ci and Jo-jo sang like they had been born to do so. A night filled with lots of thrusting and sexual innuendo, plus some great songs that took you back a good fews years. Including some all time favourite like 'Freak n You', 'Come And Talk To Me' and the funky 'Get On Up'.
The show ended with the guys asking for some of the audience to come join them on stage. This was an experience - crazy women literally throwing themselves over the barrier for the chance to go shake it with the guys. My night was given the perfect finish when the handsome DeVante come off stage and shook a few hands. I was fortunate enough to be given a kiss... What a perfect way to end Valentines night.
These guys really know how Rn'B is done. Real music with real talent. Thanks you Joe and of course Jodeci for a night to be long
remembered.
