Make no mistake about it, Chicago native Noname is one of the most exciting talents around at the moment. Her "Room 25" album was one of the finest records of 2018, and things are looking exciting for her.

The 27-year-old, real name Fatimah Nyeema Warner, performed two nights at West London's iconic Shepherds Bush Empire - and it's likely to be the last time UK audiences could catch her in such an intimate venue.

Accompanied by a live band, she emerged on the neon-lit stage to "Self", one of the many high points from the latest long-player. "Blackploitation" was delivered with style, getting the audience dancing.
In the studio, she has a laid-back, almost conversational, style, and this translates perfectly to the stage.

Noname barely stopped smiling throughout her 90-minute set and was clearly humbled to see the sold-out crowd. "Regal", "Samaritan" and "Montego Bae" were faultlessly performed, while "Ace" took on an edge that demonstrated her versatility.

One of the most compelling acts I've seen for some time, Noname has a lot of talent stored up in her locker, and I get the feeling there's plenty more to come. "Don't Forget About Me" and "Part of Me" were among the highlights, and it was unsurprising at the end of her set to see the audience clamouring for an encore.

In this case, they were treated to fan favourite "Shadow Man", which brought the evening off to a strong close. The future looks very bright indeed for this up-and-coming star.
