Lindsey Webster has probably only been the radar of most UK soul fans as a result of last year’s accomplished album ‘Back To Your Heart’, but this is, in fact, her third release.

Opening up with the title track from the new album, Lindsey immediately has us in the palm of her hand with powerful vocals backed by a terrific support band. Straight into gorgeous stand out ballad ‘Those Three Words’ she then mixes tracks from all her albums with particular highlights ‘Soul Salvation’ and ‘Fool Me Once’.
Her personal taste is reflected in an eclectic mix of covers, which include Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’, James Brown, Rufus & Chaka Khan and my personal favourite, Prince’s ‘Call My Name’ a swooping, swirling triumph.

The joy of an intimate venue like this, besides being up close and personal, is that you get to talk with the artist and musicians at the interval and after. They were even selling and signing CDs in the corner! I can report that Lindsey is totally disarming (you get the feeling she doesn’t quite realise yet how good she is) and hopes to be back in the UK soon playing at larger venues such as Ronnie Scotts or The Jazz Café. On last night’s showing, that is the least her talent deserves. Set your ‘gig alerts’ to Webster now!
