Keith Sweat: Indig02 25/09/09
Friday night was the night. The Indig02 was the place to be for prospective great night of Rn'B, topped with a little New Jack Swing. As I took my place, it didn't take Keith Sweat long to prove to the crowd he's still got it... And Some!
His voice still amazing and for a man who has been doing this stuff for well over 20 years, he still had all the ingredients needed to set the stage at the Indig02 well and truly alight.
He soon got the crowd singing and dancing with some unforgettable classics like 'Make It Last Forever', 'Nobody' and ever tuneful 'Don't Stop Your Love'. Looking as smooth as ever and with a great backing group, he managed to tick all those sexy an'smooth old skool boxes. I was also impressed at the diverse mixed crowd from people from their 20's to Rn'B lovin 40+ year olds, as he managed to entertain in every way. Proof that good music is always in demand and ever popular.
It was at this point Sweat hit the audience with a triple whammy - The vivaciously and cool 'Twisted' was followed by the immense 'Something Just Ain't Right' and as the crowd rejoiced in delight at this top twosome. Sweat finished them off like a polished Rn'B heavyweight with perfect all time classic and house-shaking big ass top-top tune 'I want her'. This had the crowd going ccccrrrazy! I don't think a single person in the place was standing still.
The maestro then went on to do his smooth bit (for want of better words). With a lot of winding and grinding for a few lucky ladies on stage, Sweat was packed with charm and roses aplenty (by the way, where was mine Keith?). To top off this special night and leave us all smiling, he did a repeat of 'I Want Her' as his finale. Great night, great atmosphere and a night that definitely bought back many great memories.
