DAVID SEA: SEA CRUISINâ

DAVID SEA
DAVID SEA

Born and raised in Alabama, David Seaâs long been revered by modern soul fans in the UK. His latest solo album, âLove Makes The World Go Roundâ has won praise all-round with the track âStay In My Armsâ quickly becoming a modern room favourite.

Many liken the song to Johnnie Taylorâs âLetâs Get Back On Trackâ â but David tells it differently: âNo, âStay In My Armsâ isnât based on Johnnie. Itâs based on good soul music and a feeling â a feeling that I want my fans to hearâ

Those faithful fans have been feeling Davidâs groove since the 80s, when he debuted as a solo artist with releases on the Hy-Tyde and Crown Limited labels. Rejecting a place in the Temptations, Seaâs solo career blossomed with Magic City then really took off with the album âGroove Missionâ spawning the hit âBack In Love Againâ.

Concurrent with a solo career, David hooked up with former Temptations David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and Dennis Edwards for their world tour and subsequently became a key member of the Edwards-led Temptations Review. Keeping that option open, Sea knows how hard it is for real soul singers to get decent deals: âThereâs just too many young folks doing their thing now. The record companies tend to gear themselves to the young kids.â
And the future? âIâve been working diligently in the studio on my new Gospel CD and will continue to produce good music⦠and if the Lord is willing maybe one day in the near future I will have the privilege to perform to my wonderful fans in the UK. I'm always overwhelmed by the response of the fans there.â

David Sea's âLove Makes The World Go Roundâ is out now on Park Place Records.
