Blues and Soul Music Magazine

Issue 1062

Welcome To B&S Online

Editorial STUFF

We can promise is another scorcher of an issue of Blues & Soul...we begin our campaign this issue with not just one, but two cover interviews! Our double cover issue brings UK soul icon Omar to one cover, as he fronts an 'actual' Soul & Blues magazine within a Blues & Soul magazine (if you know what I mean? lol). As we pay homage to some of our heroes of Soul; Ben E. King, Eric Benét, Don-E, Lee Fields, Sherrie Brown and Booker T. Plus we bring you the best of the new soul fraternity, with interviews from two artists we think you will hear a lot of over the coming months: Moya and Timotha Lanae...We stay soul inspired as we welcome the UK Soul Chart to our pages for the very first time, care of Starpoint Radio and DJ Kevin J. Roberts - thanks Carl & Kev!...Our soul area also contains two soul columns from two two of the most highly respected names in Northern Soul, Richard Searling and Frank Elson. Plus we also bring you a 'must read' modern soul column care of Hot FM DJ/Expansion Records boss, Ralph Tee - as these three soulful musketeers have their finger firmly on the soul button, we ask them to press it firmly to give you the most comprehensive coverage by any magazine in this genre....We match our first class soul coverage with an equally excellent Bluesville column from B&S' Blues expert Simon Redley. There's also a live review from female blues legend Bonnie Raitt and an interview/introduction to a brand new blues artist making a real name for herself, Chastity Brown...Our second cover (in no particular order) is style icon, Janelle Monáe. With musical superstardom sure to beckon in the near future, we believe a B&S cover is long overdue for this vital mover & shaker of the R&B world. We back this interview up with further stella chart names including; J. Cole and Iggy Azalea, plus we bring you more columnist action in the shape of Bigger (R&B), Ben Lovett (House & Garage) a Bobby & Steve (soulful House), who all get their hands dirty to bring you THE latest news, views and comment in their genres....As usual we hope you enjoy what we have endeavoured to craft for your enjoyment, see you next issue - September 13th. May the music be with you! Lee Tyler (Editor)B&S
