Welcome To B&S

THE OFFICIAL 1ST STOP FOR MUSIC WRITING, COMMENT, INTEGRITY, OPINION AND LISTINGS

Editorial STUFF

In this end of year issue of B&S online we are delighted to have JLS gracing our cover, as Marvin has been an artist we covered previously in another guise, it was great to catch-up with him and the rest of the guys to find out about their slight change of musical direction and their new outlook on life⦠all we can say is, boy haven't they grown - boys to MEN and then some! ...From this I also draw a certain similarity with this very title, having gone through many changes ourselves over the last 45 years, we too are now feeling invigorated with our own slight change of direction and the course we now plot is a far more favourable one than in recent times⦠As a magazine we have always adapted to; different styles of music, different genres, different artists covered, even different staff at B&S - if you match that with an ever-changing tastes of our readership which has been ever swelling with the vast numbers who already read the oldest and most well respected black music magazine in the world - our longterm readers know that although we may have one foot firmly planted in the future, they also reassuringly know that it is equally weighted with our in-depth coverage of all things retro. We can only embrace the coming year with excitement and vigour because that's all we know - after all we are still doing what we love and you are still reading about what you love, so here's to the coming year - cheers! ...#Shoutouts go all the artists who are in interview action this month, including: Leona Lewis, Cody ChesnuTT, Anthony David, Sir Tom Jones, Bettye LaVette, Courtney Pine, Craig Charles, Stylistics, Daley, Misha B, Angel, Vince Kidd, YOYO Honey, Hot 8 Brass Band, Kelly Erez and Laid Blak⦠Plus we up our game with three standout Anniversary interviews as we celebrate 40 years with the biggest independent Blues label in the world Alligator Records, 25 years with U.K. funk gods Level 42 and last but by no means least our very own ex-Acid Jazz label artist Snowboy interviews Acid Jazz label boss Eddie Piller, as we celebrate 25 years of this iconic labelâ¦. so as we get the champers on ice, it only remains for me to mention our eight expert columnists who are chomping at the bit to air their views within their genres - please do feel free to email your points to us/them along with any other news that you feel would benefit others to our info address to be found at BluesandSoul.com ...Peace n'goodwill to you all - 2013, who would have thought?! Lee Tyler (Ed)B&S
